Mitchell grew up in Tenterfield in northern New South Wales and studied Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2006. After two years working at a North Queensland Equine referral centre Mitchell worked at Illawarra Equine Centre in 2009 and 2010. During this time he completed his memberships with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Surgery.
Since then Mitchell has worked a stud season at some of the prominent studs in South East Queensland before setting off overseas working and traveling with his wife, Simone. Upon returning to Australia they lived and worked in central Victoria and in July 2014 returned to the beautiful NSW south coast, where Mitchell has now taken up the position of manager of Illawarra Equine Centre. During the 10 years Mitchell has been a veterinarian he has gained extensive equine reproduction and surgical experience. Mitchell has a particular interest in lameness, podiatry, surgery and reproduction but loves all things equine from 2am foalings to dentals on minatures.
Outside of veterinary science he plays cricket, golf and enjoys kayaking and running. He has recently completed two half triathlons and hopes to complete a full one in the next two (to five) years.
Mitchell and his wife Simone now have two daughters, Edie and Alice who are enjoying the wonderful south coast lifestyle and are looking forward to settling here for the foreseeable future.
