Dr Ebony Leppaenen
Ebony grew up in Finland, where she developed an interest in riding and training young equestrian horses and also took a year-long sport riding elective in secondary school. She then went on to complete an undergraduate veterinary degree at the University of Helsinki before heading over to Australia.
Once in Australia, Ebony spent some time working at a small thoroughbred stud in Queensland, and eventually joined a off-the-track-thoroughbred re-training program at Canterbury racecourse, which was run by Scott Brodie and Racing NSW. She also worked with the veterinary team in Sydney metropolitan and Kembla Grange races in a casual role.
Finally, Ebony moved to Adelaide to complete the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the university of Adelaide. While in Adelaide, she started offering horse training services in the Northern Adelaide region. As Ebony is passionate about starting young horses, dressage and natural horsemanship, she continues to train horses in Sydney on part-time basis.
Ebony is currently placed in Western Sydney, but frequently visits the Wollongong area. She enjoys all equine work, but her special interests are sports and internal medicine, podiatry, rehabilitation and equine behaviour.
