Mitchell grew up in Tenterfield in northern New South Wales and studied Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2006. After two years working at a North Queensland Equine referral centre Mitchell worked at Illawarra Equine Centre in 2009 and 2010. During this time he completed his memberships with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Surgery.

In July 2014 Mitchell moved back to the NSW south coast, and became the Manager of Illawarra Equine Centre.

 

Over the past 13 years Mitchell has gained extensive equine reproduction and surgical experience. He has a particular interest in lameness, podiatry, surgery and reproduction but loves all things equine from 2am foalings to dentals on miniature ponies.

While not working he enjoys running, riding, swimming and spending time with his wife Simone, his kids Edie, Alice and Angus, his two dogs, cat and chickens.
